At nineteen years old, Glasgow based producer Koreless somehow creates a sense of space in his music that some spend a lifetime trying to achieve. He’s so young but the music feels mature. Koreless throws his beats against a beautifully woven tapestry of ambiance, it’s like they bounce off that, then cascade straight across your cerebellum.

Koreless In Control With Novation
The music of Koreless, aka Lewis Roberts, is fast gathering support from the highest sources of esteem in electronic music. From DJs Gilles Peterson and Benji B, to the output of underground internet stations such as Rinse FM and Boiler Room, the Koreless sound is infecting ears around the world.
Koreless thrives in the live environment "DJing is great, but I much prefer playing live. I'm not keen enough to stick with the DJ thing. And it's quite nice to be able to do your own thing and do something a bit different." To enable his live improvisation, he separates his songs into parts in Ableton Live, then rearranges on the fly. "Each time I play it can be totally different. I fire off the loops from different parts of the track, so It's not a set thing, it can be different bits from different tunes, maybe a snare from one tune and a bass from another. My live set is always changing. Before each gig I'll change little bits. And you can assign different things to macros and things with Live."
At the heart of his live setup is a Launchpad and a Zero SL MkII. "The Launchpad speaks for itself. It works with Ableton absolutely perfectly and does everything you need. There's quite a lot of scope for different things, especially with the Zero SL MkII. It's not set to specific things, and you can do whatever you want with it really. With the Zero, I have the channel volumes on the faders, then I have the bass EQ on the knobs. On the next page I have effects sends to delays and reverbs, and beat repeat occasionally."
